Stiles Machinery Inc. is excited to open its doors to local students on Thursday, October 5th, 2017 for a Manufacturing Day event where attendees will receive guided tours of Stiles’ facilities and a hands-on experience in modern-day manufacturing.
Manufacturing Day is a nationwide movement designed to inspire the next generation by giving them insights into what manufacturing looks like today and how it is impacting the future. Stiles looks forward to hosting this exciting event in Grand Rapids, MI, known for its strong manufacturing roots.
Visitors to Stiles’ Manufacturing Day tour will have the unique opportunity to see the latest manufacturing technology in action. Participants will begin by learning how the company’s German-engineered flat table CNC machining centers are built and assembled right here in the United States at the HOMAG Machinery North America plant. From there, students will take part in several interactive demonstrations through Stiles University’s Training Lab, where they will use cutting-edge CNC technology to produce Martin guitar bodies and other wood-based products.
The manufacturing industry is experiencing a major shift from traditional production methods to a highly-automated and technically-skilled trade. Thomas Allott, Manager of Stiles University, believes that this event serves as a major opportunity to influence the youth and show them what a career in manufacturing looks like today.
“We are excited to host this Manufacturing Day event, and believe that it is our responsibility to get the next generation interested and excited about the opportunities that manufacturing has to offer. We look forward to changing the perception of manufacturing with a fun, high-energy and informative day!” says Allott.
