Newood and Caleidolegno
Tabu Newood and Caleidolegno Tabu's collections of engineered veneers, Newood and Caleidolegno, share many environmental benefits. These collections utilize wood species such as obeche and poplar, which are relatively inexpensive, fast growing and from managed forests. Both collections offer high yield in manufacturing because of color and grain consistency and standard leaf sizes. The Newood collection is meant to replicate natural wood species. Veneers are first dyed to match the color of different natural woods. They are then glued together into man-made logs that are re-sliced at different angles to replicate the grain of natural species. The same technology is used for Caleidolegno. The logs are resliced and relayered to achieve the desired geometrical or abstract patterns. Both collections are considerably less expensive than the veneers they replicate, because of the low cost of the raw material. 100392042
