SawStop, LLC recently announced the availability of the new SawStop 10-in. contractor saw. As with SawStop's flagship SawStop 10-in. Industrial Cabinet Saw, the new contractor saw features the award-winning, patented braking system that stops the saw blade within 5 milliseconds when it detects the blade has contacted the operator's skin. The safety system provides woodworkers with the highest level of safety and includes several premium features including an enhanced dust collection system. The result is a saw that is both a safe and high-quality tool, the company says. In addition to its safety technology, SawStop's new contractor saw also offers several features not found in many other contractor saws. A patented dust collection system removes up to 99 percent of particles below the table a feature typically found in more expensive saws with fully enclosed cabinets. Proper dust collection improves safety by removing particulates from the air before they can be inhaled. The European-style riving knife helps users make safe, non-through cuts, and a hands-free on/off paddle allows users to easily stop the blade after completing a cut. The contractor saw is available in 30-, 36- and 52-in. fence system configurations, with mobility options that include a mobile base and a job-site cart.
