Raimann SafetyPlus System
Several gang ripsaw operators have experienced serious injuries due to kickbacks on gang saws since their introduction in the early 1960s. The steel fingers used to prevent kickbacks have worked well to prevent entire boards from kicking back, but fall short of stopping large sliver kickbacks that can pass through the small gap between the end of the kickback fingers and the feed chain. The Raimann SafetyPlus system is a Kevlar curtain that extends directly onto the chain in front of the existing anti-kickback fingers. This eliminates the gap between the kickback fingers and the chain, preventing slivers from passing under the kickback fingers.
