Temple-Inland GreenLite™ Fiberboard Door Core

Temple-Inland has announced that its GreenLite Fiberboard Door Core is approved for use in the construction of 1 in. 20-minute fire-rated doors. GreenLite Door Core can be used in a 20-minute fire-rated door construction (without hose stream) subject to positive or neutral pressure as a result of evaluation by Intertek Testing Services. It is approved for use in Category B doors for single swing or pairs. Tests were conducted in accordance with UBC 7-2 (1997); Testing Standards for Swinging Fire Doors; UL 10B (2008) and UL 10C (2001); Fire Tests of Door Assemblies; NFPA 252 (2008); Standard Methods for Fire Tests of Door Assemblies; and ASTM E 2074 (2004) Standard Method of Fire Tests of Door Assemblies. GreenLite offers a package of benefits including an 85 percent certified recycled content that can deliver valuable environmental contributions to green rating systems such as LEED and the NAHB National Green Building Standard. Plus, GreenLite is manufactured with no added formaldehyde, so it exceeds CARB standards for low-VOC emissions and can contribute credits toward Green Globe recognition too. It provides a solid door feel and swing weight, yet remains light enough to reduce worker, tool and machine wear as well as shipping weights compared to traditional high-density composite door cores. Finally, its higher STC value means reduced noise transmission compared to hollow doors.
